Position Summary The Seattle Colleges are looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part-time in a wide range of Medical Assisting courses. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment. Successful applicants may be invited to interview at one of the colleges in the Seattle Colleges District, North Seattle, Seattle Central, or South Seattle. Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background, scheduling, and available courses. Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle. The salary range for part time faculty is $7,110.33 - $10,649.33 (P1: A1- E7). Target start rate of pay for this position is $7,110.33 - $8,226.33 (for a 5-credit single-class workload per quarter). What you bring as a candidate (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience) An understanding of the goals and role of the community college. Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels of on the topic of study. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MDA) program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Five (5) years of experience as an MDA, CMA. Must hold current certifications or other designations as required by local, state or federal laws to work in the field (CMA, RMA, CCMA). Verbal and written communication skills. Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for students to include scheduled activities and materials of modules. Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based upon student need and established curriculum. Evaluate the performance of students regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs. Maintain student attendance in accordance with established policies. Prepare final grades at the end of each module to update student records and transcripts. Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and visits to clinics and medical offices. Prepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class and individually. Assist and counsel students with Medical Assistant program curriculum. May assist and coordinate externships for Medical Administrative Assistant students. Monitor students in the classroom. Assist students and ensure safety precautions are adhered to. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and other computer skills. A demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds.
