Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor, Hospital Medicine Program AY 2026-27, General Internal Medicine

The University of Washington, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine is recruiting for up to seven open positions at the Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor level. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position FTE is negotiable - information about benefits eligibility can be found here:

Anticipated start date will be July 1, 2026; specific start date is negotiable. Select positions available immediately.

Compensation for UW Hospitalists is broken into multiple components as described below. Total guaranteed annual compensation ranges from $235,008 - $315,000, depending upon rank and day/night split.

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and board certification* in Internal Medicine (or foreign equivalent). Applicants must hold or be eligible for Washington State Medical License.

*Note: Board certification in Internal Medicine must be completed within two years after residency.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Only full-time positions (100% FTE) are eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship. University sponsorship is not possible for a J-1 visa or employer based permanent residence sponsorship in the clinical faculty track.

For VAPSHCS applicants: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).

There are two faculty track options: Clinical (FTCF) or Professor of Clinical Practice (CP). Those interested in providing excellent clinical care, traditional ward teaching with residents, and have interest in pursuing projects in QI, EDI, mentorship, scholarship and/or leadership, please apply via the CP Interfolio link. This may be most appropriate for those who rank our resident teaching sites (Harborview, Montlake, and the VA) higher. If your primary focus is to provide excellent direct clinical care, with additional teaching and non-clinical opportunities still available for those interested, please apply via the FTCF Interfolio link. This may be most appropriate for those who rank Northwest first. Please do not apply to both listings choose the one that best fits your interests. During the interview process, if it is determined that you are better suited for the alternate track, you will be able to resubmit your application to the appropriate listing.

To facilitate timely scheduling of interviews, we encourage submitting your application by October 10th or as soon as possible. Applications after October 10th are welcome and interviews will be scheduled as promptly as possible during October through January, depending on available open positions*. The recruitment committee will review applications in the order received.
