There are available positions for full-time or part-time 12-month (July 1 - June 30 service period), annual appointments.

Anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.

We have exceptional full and part-time opportunities to join our growing Academic Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalist service, covering two campuses of University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and a Special Delivery Unit at Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. This unique opportunity offers rotations through UWMC-NW - the bustling, community-based campus of UWMC with a new, state of the art Labor and Delivery Unit and about 1,900 deliveries per year, UWMC-Montlake - a busy tertiary care center which offers an integrated approach to obstetrics, balancing high-risk and low-risk cases, with almost 2,500 deliveries per year, and a Special Perinatal Unit at Seattle Children's Hospital, which provides highly specialized care before, during and after birth for patients whose babies may be critically ill due to birth defects. This position would be part of the University of Washington, there are strong opportunities for surgical and clinical mentorship, and selected applicants would have the opportunity to engage in teaching, research and service in general Obstetrics and Gynecology.

A 1.0 FTE Academic OBGYN Hospitalist faculty member at UW-SCH provides ample time for both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Clinical responsibilities add up to 73 shifts per year, or an average of six 24-hour shifts per month. This shift count accounts for generous, paid four-week vacation and two-week CME benefits. 24-hour call is in-house with Generalist OBGYN partners at UWMC, and solo at SCH. Primary clinical responsibilities at UWMC include:

• Evaluation of patients in OB triage
• Consultation and surgical coverage for family medicine and midwifery colleagues on labor and delivery
• Direct inpatient care on the antepartum and postpartum services
• Labor management, primary or assistant surgeon in cesarean sections, operative and spontaneous vaginal deliveries
• Consultation and surgical management for the Northwest Emergency Department

Primary clinical responsibilities at SCH include:

• In-hospital coverage when there is a patient in house.
• Fetal MFM and pediatric surgery on back-up home call (immediate availability within 30 minutes)
• Hospitalist will monitor vital signs, manage obstetric complications in conjunction with input and guidance with Fetal Team (MFM/pediatric surgeon) such as and not limited to: pain management post procedure, preterm contractions/labor, vaginal bleeding, preterm premature of the membranes, unplanned delivery (emergency cesarean delivery, vaginal delivery)

Administrative time is allotted for the following:

• Attendance to monthly Division meetings
• Attendance to departmental presentations, such as Grand Rounds and M&M Conference
• Contributions to the training of residents and medical students
• Participation in quality improvement initiatives for the labor and delivery unit. Examples include OB sepsis working group, NTSV committee, and substance use in pregnancy working group.

As a part-time (0.50 FTE) position, clinical responsibilities add up to 48 shifts per year, or an average of four 24-hour shifts per month without vacation, CME, or administrative time included.

Candidates will be expected to provide medical services at the University of Washington affiliated hospitals, train residents and medical students, and make academic contributions to the field. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

The full-time salary range for this position will be: $24,000 - $26,250 per month ($288,000 - $315,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University and additional compensation provided for work on the OB hospitalist service. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
• Board eligibility/certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and an excellent record of clinical service.
• Two years of work experience is preferred; however, we will happily consider new Ob/Gyn residency graduates and hospitalist fellowship graduates with academic career interests.
• Gynecologic surgical proficiency required. Robotic experience is not necessary.
• All candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a Washington State medical license.
