Genesis Technical and Industrial Staffing is seeking an experienced E&I Designer Level IV to support electrical and instrumentation design for industrial plant projects. This is a mid-to-senior-level design role focused on developing detailed, safe, code-compliant, and constructible electrical and instrumentation solutions within an operating industrial environment.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on complex assignments, coordinate with multiple engineering and plant disciplines, and provide technical guidance to junior designers when needed.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical and instrumentation systems, including switchgear, relay protection, motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, lighting, grounding, power distribution, field instrumentation, and controls documentation .
• Produce and maintain E&I design deliverables including one-lines, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, block diagrams, panel layouts, cable/conduit routing, equipment layouts, and as-built documentation .
• Utilize AutoCAD extensively to develop and modify electrical and instrumentation drawings and design packages.
• Utilize CADWorx 3D and Navisworks for design development and coordination, as applicable.
• Conduct field walks and collect site information to support new designs, design modifications, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and other disciplines including civil/structural, piping, process, and mechanical to develop practical, clash-free, and constructible solutions.
• Review drawings and design work completed by junior designers for technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Support project execution by monitoring schedules, identifying scope changes, and providing technical input throughout the design process.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, instrumentation documentation, and related design packages .
• Apply applicable electrical and instrumentation codes, standards, plant requirements, Process Safety Management (PSM) , and Management of Change (MOC) requirements to design work.
• Provide technical direction and support to junior designers as needed.

Target Profile

• 8+ years of industrial electrical and instrumentation design, EPC, or closely related experience.
• High school diploma/GED plus an associate degree, technical degree, CADD certification, or equivalent relevant training and experience. Bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Required: NCCER Electrical Certification Plus and NCCER Instrumentation Certification Plus.
• Strong industrial experience with electrical distribution, controls, field instrumentation, electrical/instrumentation drawings, schematics, and plant equipment .
• Advanced AutoCAD proficiency required.
• Experience with CADWorx 3D and Navisworks preferred.
• Experience designing or documenting instrumentation and control systems , including digital, analog, and pneumatic instrumentation.
• Familiarity with instrument/control valves and positioners is preferred.
• Familiarity with SAP or other engineering/data management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and electrical/instrumentation design packages .
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, communicate effectively with plant personnel and project teams, and provide technical direction when needed.

Working Conditions

This is an onsite position that includes office-based design work as well as regular field walks in operating plants and construction environments. Candidates must be able to wear required PPE, navigate industrial facilities including stairs and ladders, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
