TITLE:    SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR/CLIENT ENGINEER 

We're looking for an experienced Systems Administrator or Client Engineer to join our IT team in South San Francisco. You'll own core infrastructure like our MDM and identity platforms, keep endpoints secure and running smoothly, and be the technical depth behind our IT function. This is a senior, independent role, not an entry-level help desk position; you'll be trusted to make decisions, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve how things work, while also being a visible, approachable resource for the people who depend on these systems every day. As you settle in, there's real opportunity to grow into additional areas like lab systems, new hire onboarding, and AI tool adoption.

This is a fully onsite role, five days a week in South San Francisco. It's not available as remote or hybrid.

Core Responsibilities

• Own and manage our Intune/MDM environment, keeping devices secure, compliant, and running smoothly.
• Administer Okta, including onboarding/offboarding, access management, and day-to-day identity operations.
• Own workstation patching and update management across the organization.
• Own asset tracking and hardware lifecycle management, from procurement through deployment and retirement.
• Diagnose and resolve complex endpoint and infrastructure issues, including hardware deployment and break/fix.
• Support Zoom, Zoom Rooms, and Slack infrastructure for the business.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for the team, working tickets and the IT service desk Slack channel with the same rigor you'd apply to any other system you own.
• Partner closely with our existing onsite engineer and IT leadership to keep support coverage consistent and high quality.
• Co-owning lab systems support alongside our existing team (training provided).
• Helping lead new hire orientation and onboarding.
• Working hands-on with the AI tools we use across the company, helping employees get the most out of them.
• Taking ownership of additional applications and systems as they come online.

  Required:

• 4-7 years of relevant systems administration or client engineering experience.
• Proven, independent experience managing Intune or a similar MDM platform in a production environment.
• Experience administering Okta or a comparable identity platform.
• Comfortable working in a ticketing tool such as Jira, ServiceNow, or similar (no specific platform required).
• Strong communication skills and sound judgment; able to explain technical issues clearly and stay composed under pressure.
• Able to work onsite in South San Francisco five days a week.

Nice to Have:

• Specific experience with Jira as a ticketing platform.
• Light scripting or automation experience.
• Prior experience supporting a biotech, pharma, or lab environment.
• Curiosity about AI tools and how they can improve the way people work.
