Job Description

Prominent Louisiana General Contractor in Bossier City, LA, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Accounting Assistant to join our on-site Accounting Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or grow their career in accounting and gain hands-on experience in a professional construction environment.

The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, comfortable working with numbers, and eager to learn. The ability to work independently while also collaborating with the accounting and administrative teams is essential.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with processing accounts payable invoices accurately and timely in a paperless environment.
• Assist with maintaining vendor files and supporting documentation.
• Assist with ensuring invoices are properly coded, approved, and processed for payment.
• Assist with accounts receivable billing, account maintenance, and collections.
• Assist with payroll processing and related administrative tasks.
• Assist with maintaining documentation related to subcontracts and purchase orders, including certified payroll, lien waivers, and other required documentation.
• Assist with maintaining accurate employee and vendor records in a paperless environment.
• Assist with new hire onboarding and other HR-related administrative duties.
• Assist with employee benefit administration, including health insurance, retirement plan enrollment, and HRA maintenance.
• Enter and maintain accounting and employee information accurately in company systems.
• Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and other documentation as requested.
• Respond to routine questions from vendors, employees, and internal departments in a professional and timely manner.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or business is a plus.
• Previous accounting, bookkeeping, office administration, or related experience is helpful but not required .
• Basic understanding of accounting principles preferred.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability and willingness to learn accounting software and company-specific systems.
• Experience working in a paperless environment is a plus.
• Construction industry experience is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with Sage accounting products is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable, professional, and willing to learn.
