Job Purpose and Summary At CVS Health, Pharmacy Managers lead and develop a pharmacy team in our retail locations to deliver exceptional patient care, promote best practices, and manage day‑to‑day operations. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and consistent follow‑up. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by enforcing pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team in compassionate care, collaborating with the broader health team, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, identifying and supporting Pharmacy Technicians who wish to learn immunization. Manage pharmacy inventory by enforcing best practices, with a special focus on protecting cold‑chain products. Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure. Ensure pharmacy operations remain fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed. Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues, ensuring they complete all necessary training and licensure. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (where applicable), managing performance through observation, feedback, and validation of results; deliver annual performance reviews. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic, including authoring or delegating the pharmacy schedule. Review business reporting for operational insights, develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance. Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, building psychological safety by encouraging feedback and taking relevant action. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills (e.g., company‑required trainings, CMEs) and seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing, flu/ COVID shots, and hormonal contraception where permissible. Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, including controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, to protect patient privacy and maintain a safe workplace. Essential Functions Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within designated timeframes. Concentrate on tasks over time and pivot quickly when needed. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Use verbal and written communication effectively with patients and colleagues, practicing active listening. Apply mathematical reasoning to solve dispensing problems. Identify challenging interactions and choose the best resolution path. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; reach out with arms or legs. Perform repetitive finger movements (typing, picking, pinching). Adjust machines accurately and quickly. Stoop to a considerable degree, requiring full lower‑extremity and back use. Have close visual acuity for tasks such as transcription and computer viewing. Lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion; frequently lift up to 10 lbs.; otherwise exert negligible force. Use spoken word to convey detailed instructions accurately. Receive detailed information via oral communication. Team Management and Leadership Lead by example and set a positive tone for the team. Delegate tasks, empower team members, and foster collaboration. Motivate, inspire, and uphold high performance standards. Apply problem‑solving skills to address challenges and innovate solutions. Adapt and remain accountable amid changing circumstances. Coach, reinforce, encourage, provide feedback, discipline, or terminate team members as required. Perform any additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor or Manager. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3–5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs. Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 hours – Full time Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $65.00 – $85.00 per hour (or equivalent annual salary).
