Laboratory Technician 2 - Chemistry

Responsibilities Reagent preparation and testing. Quality control checks of instrumentation and equipment. Maintaining accurate records and other logs for accreditation. Inventorying and ordering chemicals, supplies, and equipment. Maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment. Facilitating vehicle maintenance. Maintaining cleanliness in the laboratory. Working to mitigate issues in the facility. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience performing routine, standardized analytical tests and laboratory procedures in accordance with well‑defined written instructions and high school courses in chemistry, biology, mathematics, or any laboratory‑based course. A bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, microbiology, or a closely related field. NOTE: An associate degree in laboratory science may substitute for one year of the required experience. Preferred Skills General laboratory knowledge and experience performing procedures such as preparing solutions, working with scientific instrumentation, maintaining accurate records, and detailed note‑taking. Experience inventorying and ordering chemicals, supplies, and equipment. Ability to support a professional program by working independently and as part of a team without direct supervision. Ability to work under pressure, meet scheduled and unexpected deadlines, pivot to meet changing needs, and respond professionally under stress. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a diverse audience. Special Qualifications Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to provide credible sworn testimony in a criminal or civil proceeding arising from the performance of duties. Must pass a urine analysis drug screen. As a condition of employment, candidates must provide samples for inclusion in the Confidential Staff DNA Identification Index. All candidates will undergo a background investigation process, including a Criminal History Check and, when applicable, a Credit History Check.
