Sales Tax Accountant

Senior Sales Tax Accountant 6+ month contract | Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) Overview Seeking a Senior Sales Tax Accountant to support the preparation, filing, and compliance of multi-state sales and use tax returns. This individual will work with large datasets, ensure timely tax filings, assist with property tax and business license compliance, and help maintain tax reporting schedules. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting 2–5 years of accounting experience Sales & Use Tax Compliance Multi-State Tax Filing Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) Oracle Data Analysis Tax Research Compliance Reporting Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-starter with strong organizational skills Responsibilities Process and format large, multi-entity sales tax datasets to meet state filing requirements Prepare and file state and local sales tax returns through applicable state and municipal tax portals Research and resolve sales tax notices and inquiries Develop and maintain compliance calendars to ensure timely filing of tax returns Assist with property tax filings Maintain business license schedules and renewal tracking Assist in preparing year-end tax schedules and supporting documentation Perform high-volume transactional data entry with a high level of accuracy Create schedules and assign work to team members as needed Support tax reporting processes and departmental initiatives Hands‑on experience preparing and filing sales tax returns Comfortable working with large datasets and transactional information Detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills Able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment Proactive, dependable, and capable of working independently Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems, particularly Oracle Estimated Salary Estimated Min Rate: $49.00 | Estimated Max Rate: $70.00 Benefits Medical, Prescription, Dental & Vision Benefits (for employees working 20+ hours per week) Health Savings Account (HSA) (for employees working 20+ hours per week) Life & Disability Insurance (for employees working 20+ hours per week) MetLife Voluntary Benefits Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 401K Retirement Savings Plan Direct Deposit & weekly epayroll Referral Bonus Programs Certification and training opportunities Note: Any pay ranges displayed are estimations.
