Senior Systems Engineer

Systems Engineer, Senior Location: Maxwell Air Force Base – Gunter Annex, Montgomery, AL Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Travel: less than 10% Relocation Assistance: None Responsibilities Identify, describe, and apply emerging IT acquisition strategies, best practices, IT-related performance measures and quality management in support of acquisition planning, information assurance/cybersecurity, test and evaluation processes, verification and validation processes, and/or fielding and sustaining of IT/software systems. Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system‑level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications. Prepare technical documentation which defines, specifies, and recommends system/subsystem characteristics. Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective action using engineering principles. Perform validation of software systems, including development of analyses/evaluation criteria and procedures, analysis/evaluation of results, and related recommendations. Provide Agile and Digital system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives including, but not limited to, acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding, installation, and operations oversight. Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes. Perform all system engineering according to applicable DoW, AF, and AFMC directives, instructions, and manuals, including but not limited to AFI 63‑101, AFMAN 63‑144, AFMCI 63‑1202, AFMAN 63‑128, AF/99‑103, and their updates or successors. Qualifications U.S. Citizenship. Three possible education and experience paths: Master’s or Doctorate Degree and 10 years of experience in the relevant discipline, five of which must be in DoW. Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years of experience in the relevant discipline, five of which must be in DoW. 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, eight of which must be in DoW. 8140 Certification, CompTIA Security+ CE preferred. Must hold an Active Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Cloud experience (OCI). Atlassian Tool suite. Agile/SAFe Development methodologies. ServiceNow.
