Location: Mike O'Callahan Military Medical Center (MOMMC), Nellis Air Force Base Las Vegas, NV Schedule: MondayFriday | 8-hour shifts between 07001900

Position Summary - Potential Opportunity

The Medical Administrative Specialist provides essential administrative and clerical support within a military healthcare setting. This role supports clinical operations by managing patient scheduling, medical records, front-office functions, and administrative processes while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and HIPAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, service members, and staff in a professional manner
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel medical appointments and referrals
• Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR/EMR) accurately and securely
• Verify patient identification, eligibility, and required documentation
• Answer and route phone calls; provide general information and administrative support
• Prepare, review, and process medical and administrative paperwork
• Coordinate with clinical staff to support daily clinic operations
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, DoD, and facility policies and procedures

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education preferred
• Prior experience in a medical office, clinic, or administrative role preferred
• Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Ability to obtain and maintain base access to Nellis Air Force Base
