Granbury is a home rule municipality operating under a council-manager form of government. The City has a total annual budget of over $68 million and employs a staff of 220. The Senior Planner position plays a key role in the Community Development Department. The individual selected will be involved in and have a great amount of responsibility for all aspects of planning including current and long-range planning, transportation planning, historic preservation, and GIS development. The Senior Planner will be a key point of contact with the development community and is responsible for establishing a positive tone in the administration of the City’s development, historic and subdivision review processes. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography or a related field from an accredited college or university. A master’s degree in urban planning from an accredited college or university is highly preferred. In lieu of a master’s degree, additional experience in current and long-range municipal planning may be substituted. Five (5) years progressive experience in both current and long-range municipal planning is required. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification with considerable experience in the administration of current and comprehensive urban planning activities and historic preservation proposals preferred. The City of Granbury offers a competitive salary, $72,605 to $108,907 based on qualifications and experience. The City participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) at a 8% employee deposit rate with a city matching ratio of 2:1.
