DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the company’s accounting operations and provide dependable financial insight for business decision-making in Madison, Wisconsin. This role will oversee core financial activities, maintain accurate reporting, and support strong fiscal discipline across the organization. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to accounting leadership, sound technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with operational stakeholders.Responsibilities:• Direct the month-end and year-end closing cycle, ensuring financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.• Manage the general ledger and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations to maintain reliable records.• Produce monthly financial statements and management reports that clearly communicate business performance.• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and daily cash activity.• Build budgets, update forecasts, and perform financial analysis to support planning and operational decisions.• Work closely with department and operational leaders to identify opportunities to improve margins and overall profitability.• Refine accounting workflows and reinforce internal controls to promote accuracy, consistency, and compliance.• Serve as the primary contact for external audits and assist with tax-related financial preparation.• Maintain accurate financial reporting within QuickBooks and support a future accounting system transition as needed.Requirements• At least 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including leadership within finance operations.• Demonstrated expertise in full-cycle accounting and completing timely month-end close activities.• Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting principles and established accounting practices.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.• Experience using QuickBooks for financial management and reporting.• Ability to analyze financial results and translate data into practical business recommendations.• Construction industry accounting experience is beneficial.• CPA certification is preferred but not required.Job typePerm
