External Affairs Specialist

TM Floyd is seeking an enthusiastic and communications-focused External Affairs Specialist to support public-facing initiatives, brand representation , and stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for a strong communicator who enjoys public speaking, professional writing, coordinating projects, and managing multiple workflows in a fast-paced environment.

• Must be eligible for direct W-2 employment, with no C2C, subcontracting, or H-1B sponsorship
• Must be located in or near Herndon / Richmond, VA

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the organization professionally in external communications and public-facing engagements .
• Support brand messaging, public relations, and stakeholder outreach initiatives.
• Develop, edit, and deliver clear, engaging written communications and presentation materials.
• Participate in public speaking engagements, briefings, and other communication activities .
• Coordinate multiple projects and workflows, tracking timelines, priorities, and deliverables .
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging.
• Manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Support the planning and execution of external affairs initiatives and communications projects.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 3 years of experience in communications , public relations, external affairs, marketing, or a related field .
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence in public speaking, presentations, and professional stakeholder engagement .
• Experience managing multiple projects, workflows, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to represent an organization professionally and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a Herndon, VA–area communications professional with approximately 3 years of experience in external affairs, public relations, marketing, or corporate communications. They should have excellent writing and editing skills, confidence in public speaking and presentations, and experience representing an organization professionally in public-facing engagements. The candidate should be skilled in brand messaging, stakeholder outreach, preparing communication materials, and coordinating multiple projects, workflows, and deadlines simultaneously. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences are essential.
