SAH Health Unit Coordinator

Summary Cross‑trained in the role of Health Unit Coordinator and Nursing Assistant based on the needs of the department. Key Responsibilities Assemble and label charts for incoming patients. Transcribe physicians’ orders accurately, neatly, and promptly. Notify the Patient Care Manager of any missing order information. Enter all orders from Lab, X‑Ray, etc. into the computer. Ensure each order on the physician’s sheet and kardex has a corresponding computer entry. Secure records from previous admissions as needed. Prepare charts for transfer and secure photocopies. Prepare charts for discharge and verify completeness. Notify the Patient Care Manager of missing documentation at discharge. Enter discharge into the system once the patient has left the unit. Update kardexes with new admissions, diet changes, or discharges and enter data into the computer. Return medications removed from the cassette at discharge to the pharmacy. Daily check medication supplies and obtain necessary meds from pharmacy and CSR. Notify appropriate physicians of consultations, discharges, transfers, or expirations. Required Qualifications Minimum of one year working in a hospital setting preferred, or a student nurse who has completed two years of nursing school. Medical secretary experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Bilingual skills are a plus. Education High school diploma or GED. Pay Range $17.77 – $25.88 per hour. Location Saint Annes Hospital – 795 Middle Street, Fall River, Massachusetts 02721. Work Type 3 p‑11:30 p; every other weekend/holiday. Work Shift Evening.
