Overview The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides operational support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, supporting more than 4,900 applications for 53 New York State Agencies. Job Summary Under the direction of the Director of Data Center Service (DCS), the Manager Information Technology Services 2 position will be a part of the Windows and Hypervisor team. The position will confer with higher level managers, subordinate employees, and CTO architects to develop long-term work objectives, taking into consideration technical, fiscal, and staffing resources. Specific Duties Develop and maintain detailed technical plans for areas of responsibility; Define purpose, scope and objectives of short-term and long-range projects; Assign work to subordinate supervisors. Monitor project progress, review major staff initiatives and products, and make recommendations as appropriate; Direct meetings attended by project team(s), ITS management and CTO staff to discuss specific projects; Develop procedures, standards and internal controls for the conduct of work within this unit; Monitor compliance and take appropriate action as needed; Assist the Windows and Hypervisor Manager in the preparation of the unit’s budget; Develop or participate in the development, interpretation, review and communication of ITS policies, procedures, and standards; Analyze the impact of proposed policy and legislation as they pertain to the x86 Hypervisor unit; Ensure unit staff stay current on required ITS training; Keep abreast of new technologies and innovations in the x86 Hypervisor arena for use in planning with CTO architects and staff development activities; Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Manager Information Technology Services 2, SG-29, OR in a position at the SG-27 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed. Appointment Conditions Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring. Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted. Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence. Fingerprinting and a background check is required for employment with ITS. Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $4,000 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $2,000 adjustment location pay.
