Staff HR Business Partner

Responsibilities The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as an advisor and performance enabler who partners with business leaders to drive organizational effectiveness through people. The HRBP is the first point of contact for complex human capital matters and delivers high‑impact HR solutions aligned with GM’s business purpose, strategy, and culture. The role includes partnering with leaders to define and execute talent strategies, workforce planning, job design, and organizational transformation; building credibility and influence across teams without relying on formal authority; leading organizational design efforts to optimize performance; acting as a talent scout to identify performance gaps and strengths; shaping and protecting the employee experience; driving leadership development and building people‑leader effectiveness; and serving as a trusted advisor guiding leaders through ambiguity and change. The HRBP provides guidance on complex employee relations matters, uses data and insights to drive strategic decisions, applies advanced analytical and problem‑solving techniques, and serves as a catalyst for change during periods of transformation. The role also involves influencing outcomes without authority, guiding leaders in applying Total Rewards practices, ensuring sound judgment in complex situations, and collaborating with Centers of Excellence (COEs) to deliver business‑aligned HR solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience. Advanced degree (MBA or MA in HR) strongly preferred. 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant exposure to strategic HRBP roles in large, complex organizations. Proven track record in enterprise organizational design, leadership development, and global talent management. Expertise in HR technology platforms and AI‑enabled HR solutions. Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to influence senior stakeholders. Compensation The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The salary range for this role is $132,300 – $207,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position and the geography of the selected candidate. A bonus potential incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance. This role is based remotely, but if the selected candidate lives within a specific mile radius of a GM hub, they will be expected to report to the location three times a week (or other frequency dictated by the manager).
