The Operations Manager – Final Mile Delivery oversees and optimizes last‑mile logistics operations. The role ensures seamless, on‑time, and cost‑effective delivery while maintaining high service standards. The ideal candidate manages delivery operations, third‑party logistics providers, and focuses on process improvement, customer satisfaction, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop associates; foster accountability and high performance. Oversee labor scheduling, shift planning, and attendance tracking. Monitor employee productivity and operational efficiency, addressing performance gaps. Conduct safety meetings, training sessions, and compliance audits to maintain workplace safety and operational excellence. Build and manage relationships with third‑party delivery partners (3PLs), independent contractors, and employees to ensure policy adherence. Oversee daily final‑mile delivery operations, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and adherence to performance metrics. Apply route optimization strategies to improve delivery speed and quality while reducing operating costs. Conduct weekly performance reviews of third‑party partners and review contracts to align with business objectives. Drive a customer‑centric culture by improving on‑time delivery, reducing damages, returns, and replacement rates; manage escalations and provide resolution. Maintain warehouse safety and organization, comply with OSHA regulations, perform safety inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations. Maintain inventory control processes, ensure accurate shipment tracking, and minimize loss or damage. Develop and execute contingency plans for seasonal demand, weather disruptions, and logistical challenges. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3–5 years of relevant distribution or manufacturing management/leadership experience. Alternatively, 6–8 years of progressively responsible distribution leadership experience in lieu of a degree. Onsite and in‑office role. Data‑driven mindset with expertise in cost control and operational efficiency. Ability to lead and coach an hourly employee team. Manage relationships with third‑party delivery providers to maintain contractual standards. Effective communication skills and strong customer‑relations abilities. Highly organized and process‑oriented, capable of completing tasks on time. Adaptability to changing processes and evolving business requirements. Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PowerBI reporting. Preferred Qualities Six Sigma Black Belt or demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience. Knowledge and execution of final‑mile delivery models, including white‑glove service and same‑day or multi‑day delivery routing. Exposure to furniture manufacturing, distribution, or big‑box distribution. Experience in final‑mile transportation carrier contract negotiations or procurement. Expertise in Safety and OSHA standards. Physical Requirements Stand, walk, talk, and hear while performing job duties. Move, lift, or carry heavy objects or materials up to 50–100 pounds.
