• Contract Type: Contract

• Duration: 13 weeks

• Shift: 12-hour Night Shift, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM

• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Floating: May be required to intermediate care, Medical-Surgical, ED boarding, and Observation units within scope of practice

• First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Job Duties

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and high-acuity patients in the ICU.

• Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in clinical status.

• Manage ventilators, tracheostomies, invasive lines, arterial lines, CVP monitoring, drains, chest tubes, and Foley catheters.

• Care for patients requiring CVVH and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).

• Provide post-surgical and post-cardiac catheterization care.

• Care for patients with sepsis, GI bleeds, strokes, acute renal failure, DKA, respiratory conditions, and other critical illnesses.

• Support care for cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients, including CABG, valve procedures, EVAR, AAA, and amputations.

• Administer medications and treatments, assess responses, and document care accurately.

• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary care team.

• Maintain patient safety, infection prevention, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

• Float to other appropriate units when required by staffing needs.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience .

• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications .

• Strong experience with ventilator and tracheostomy management.

• Experience managing invasive lines, including arterial lines, CVP, and Swan-Ganz catheters.

• Experience with drains, chest tubes, Foley catheters, and post-surgical recovery.

• Previous post-cardiac catheterization experience.

• Experience with CVVH and CRRT.

• Ability to care for high-acuity patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.

• NIHSS certification preferred.

• Epic experience preferred.

• Cardiovascular and cardiovascular surgery experience preferred.

• Experience with IABP and Impella devices preferred.

• Must be flexible with floating within scope of practice and able to work every other weekend.

• The ICU has 17 beds, with nurse-to-patient ratios generally around 1:2 depending on acuity.

• The facility is a Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Primary Stroke Center.

• A one-day orientation includes facility onboarding, meeting the nurse manager, and working with a preceptor.

• Scheduling is prepared in four-week increments.

• Time-off requests require manager approval.

• Travelers may be the first to float when staffing needs arise.

• More than two sick calls may trigger a review of the assignment and potential contract termination.
