About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Critical Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 3 years of ICU experience; preference for CRRT experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: Required: BLS, ACLS; Preferred: NIHSS Must-Have: General ICU experience including ventilator management, invasive line management, post-surgical recovery, and fresh heart experience preferred Description: Level III Trauma Center with 136 beds. 17 bed Intensive Care Unit. COVID vaccine required. Patient types include COVID, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, injection drug abuse, overdose, suicidal ideation, delirium, gastrointestinal bleeding, and strokes treated with TPA. Surgical patients include general, orthopedic, ENT, and obstetrics-gynecology. Cardiac/vascular procedures include femoral-popliteal bypass, CABG, valve interventions, post-cardiac catheterization, and amputations. No complex neurology cases will be present. Infection control protocols include the use of N95 and PAPRs with adequate PPE provided. Patient ratios are based on acuity: RN 1:2, CNA 1:8 during the day, and 1:17 at night. General ICU skills required include management of ventilators and tracheostomies, invasive lines, tube management, Foley management, chest tubes, post-operative recovery, cardiac catheterizations, CVVH, Balloon Pumps, and CRRT (NxStage). Support on the unit includes a charge nurse, unit secretary on day shifts, intensivist available 24/7, an ICU-specific pharmacist on day shifts, respiratory therapy at all times, and a phlebotomy team for peripheral draws. Charting system used is EPIC (preferred). Travelers will float between intermediate units and observation units as needed. Weekend rotation every other week. No on-call requirements. Scrub colors can be any color except camo, denim, or hoodies. More than two sick calls will lead to discussions regarding contract evaluation.
