Springhill Suites Phoenix Gilbert SpringHill Suites Phoenix Gilbert is a brand-new, all-suite hotel in the heart of SanTan Village — the East Valley’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment district — minutes from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and the corporate corridors of Gilbert, Chandler and Mesa. The hotel is out of the gate strong, with rapidly building corporate, group and leisure demand and an outstanding guest satisfaction reputation. This is not a turnaround. We are looking for a Director of Sales who can come in and keep the momentum going as we continue to ramp up this beautiful new hotel — taking an already strong foundation of accounts and market presence and accelerating it into full stabilized performance. The right person is energized by a ramp-up story: aggressive prospecting, fast account development, building a book of business from the ground up, and owning the sales narrative for a hotel that is still writing its first chapters in this market. Position Summary The Director of Sales is responsible for driving top line revenue at SpringHill Suites Phoenix Gilbert through strategic account development, proactive prospecting and strong market presence. This role owns the hotel’s sales strategy end to end — corporate, group, extended-stay, sports, and leisure segments — and partners closely with the General Manager, revenue management and the Generation Hospitality corporate sales team to hit and exceed budget. Key Responsibilities Ramp-Up Execution: Sustain and accelerate the hotel’s opening momentum — aggressively grow the account base, convert new business quickly, and push toward stabilized occupancy and RevPAR index goals. Sales Strategy Development: Create and implement effective sales strategies to maximize revenue and market share across all segments. Proactive Prospecting: Maintain a high-volume outbound effort — cold calls, site tours, outside sales calls, e-proposals and community networking throughout Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa and the greater East Valley. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key local corporate accounts, group planners, travel partners, sports and youth organizations, and SanTan Village business stakeholders. Market Analysis: Conduct market research and competitive set analysis to identify new business opportunities, track share movement and stay ahead of East Valley demand trends. Revenue Management: Collaborate with the revenue management team to optimize pricing, mix and inventory strategy; participate in weekly revenue strategy meetings. Sales Reporting: Prepare and present regular sales reports to ownership and senior management, highlighting production, pipeline, conversion and areas for improvement. Brand & System Compliance: Manage Marriott sales systems and processes, including Fosse, account merchandising, RFP season and Marriott brand sales standards. Event Coordination: Oversee the planning and execution of group room blocks, meeting space bookings, trade shows and local promotional activities. Budget Management: Develop and manage the sales department budget and marketing spend, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and motivate the on-property sales effort — including future sales staff — and partner with the front office team to deliver a seamless guest and client experience. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. New-build, opening or ramp-up hotel experience strongly preferred. Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the Phoenix East Valley market (Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe) is a significant advantage. Brand Experience: Marriott brand and systems experience (Fosse, MiNT, Marriott RFP process) preferred. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth. Ability to analyze market trends and develop effective sales strategies. Proficiency in sales and CRM software.
