PCU RN

A PCU RN (Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides care for patients with moderate to high acuity needs, requiring closer monitoring than a general medical-surgical unit but not intensive care. They manage patients with conditions such as cardiac issues, respiratory complications, and post-surgical recovery, often involving continuous monitoring and advanced interventions. PCU RNs are responsible for administering medications, interpreting cardiac rhythms, monitoring vital signs, and responding to changes in patient condition. They work closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care, playing a key role in stabilizing patients and preventing the need for intensive care.
