The Packaging Service Technician II’s primary role is to provide accurate and effective on-site service support at customer locations, operating autonomously to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and restore equipment uptime across a range of packaging platforms.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Travel to customers locations to provide coordinated installations and efficiently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair across a broad range of mechanical and electromechanical packaging equipment, including specialized components common across platforms (pneumatics, sensors, drives, controls).
2. Effectively isolate equipment malfunctions and take corrective action.
3. Meet the daily service repair needs of the customer through Service Excellence.
4. Provide timely and accurate phone support and troubleshooting to customers and internal departments.
5. Research and answer complex customer questions about product features and recommend appropriate resolutions and/or upgrades.
6. Research and recommend parts to be ordered.
7. Log service requests and document work on a timely basis to ensure proper resolution of requests, proper billing and communication with relevant parties.
8. Assist in providing demonstrations of equipment and systems.
9. Pass along any potential customer sales leads to internal departments.
10. Assist in completing in-house service repairs.
11. May perform some internal preventative maintenance and support as needed.
12. Continually look for ways to improve processes and systems to make them more efficient and effective.
13. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
14. Responsible for working safely at all times and providing a safe work environment for all employees.
15. All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Associates or Advanced Degree in a field related to mechanical, electronic or computer technology preferred.
2. 5+ years of strong demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical or technical equipment; packaging automation industry preferred.
3. 3+ years of experience in customer-facing roles.
4. Must obtain certifications on applicable machines on a timely basis as requested.
5. Must have demonstrated Advanced Mechanical problem-solving skills, with some electrical and basic PLC trouble-shooting skills.
6. Must be effective communicator in training and presentations on technical subjects; 2-3 years’ experience in this area is preferred.
7. Must possess strong ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
9. Strong interpersonal skills including ability to effectively communicate, build rapport and interface effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
10. Works effectively under pressure and inspires customer confidence during equipment downtime and urgent service situations.
11. Must possess valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to travel to customer locations; may involve some out of state and overnight travel.

Work Environment

1. Work is performed at customer locations and involves a variety of warehouse and manufacturing conditions including fluctuating temperatures and noise levels.
2. Physical requirements include ability to walk on uneven terrain, quickly exit unsafe areas, visually assess objects, audibly recognize various warning sounds, climb ladder steps, bend, stoop and crouch and sit and stand for extended periods.
3. Ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds, lifting 5-40 pounds often.

5. Exposure to chemicals, solvents and dust.
6. Frequent driving during the workday.
7. Some overnight travel will be required.

Salary Transparency

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $40.00 per hour. Please note that the higher end of the pay range is reserved for candidates with extensive experience and qualifications that exceed the requirements of the role. Most new hires typically start at the beginning of the pay range, with opportunities for growth and increases based on performance and tenure.
