Scientist I - Computational Biology, Systems Immunology

AbbVie's Immunology team in Cambridge seeks a computational biologist to analyze multi-omics datasets from human disease tissues and identify therapeutic targets for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. The role involves developing analytical strategies for single-cell and bulk transcriptomic data, applying machine learning methods, and collaborating with translational scientists to generate target and biomarker hypotheses.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply analysis workflows for single-cell RNA-seq, CITE-seq, and bulk RNA-seq datasets
• Build and curate large single-cell atlases from human disease tissues and patient cohorts
• Analyze Olink proteomics and integrate results with transcriptomic data to identify disease associations
• Apply statistical and machine-learning methods to identify disease biomarkers, cell states, and therapeutic targets
• Communicate findings to multidisciplinary teams and contribute to presentations and publications

Requirements

• BS or MS in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, biostatistics, or related quantitative field
• Hands-on experience processing and analyzing single-cell RNA-seq data
• Experience with bulk RNA-seq analysis including differential expression and enrichment
• Proficiency in Python and/or R; Linux-based computing environment experience
• Knowledge of bioinformatics tools such as Scanpy, AnnData, DESeq2, GSEA, or WGCNA
• Statistical and machine-learning experience with high-dimensional biological data
• Ability to translate biological questions into analytical plans and communicate findings
