Chief Financial Officer (Town of Islip)

Hours: Business Hours (additional hours as required by the duties of role)

Salary Range: $150,000 - $160,000/year

We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer to join a highly successful manufacturing company in Ronkonkoma, NY. The company has fewer than 50 employees, with senior managers wearing multiple hats. The ideal candidate will work with a small team of employees and focus primarily on the oversight and management of the accounting function.

What you will be doing

• Manage deadline‑related payments and filings such as sales and tax filing, payroll processing and payroll tax filing, 401(k) deposits and loan repayment filing, monthly accruals and financial reporting, and coordination with outside consultants on quarterly and annual accounting reports.
• Manage Retirement Accounts Administration, including all aspects of the ESOP, working with the independent trustee and external firms for stock valuation, annual ESOP reporting, annual 5500 filing, and preparation and distribution of year‑end certificates and reports.
• Manage all processes related to the company 401(k): calculations, reporting, deposits of employee contribution, review of investment funds, administration of employee distributions and loans if applicable, and work with the TPA employee fiduciary for annual 401(k) reporting.
• Additional general office management responsibilities, including management of general liability insurance policies for both commercial and employment; managing the annual certificate list; preparing reports for the annual audit; periodically shopping policies; managing all aspects of the company health and dental plans/policies in collaboration with internal management on cost sharing and external brokers; managing records and filings for Sec 125, sexual harassment prevention training, OSHA requirements, NYSIF, company and employee records, etc.; managing contracts with all outside vendors such as office cleaning, grounds maintenance, security, backflow testing, HVAC; and providing oversight for HR (mostly outsourced) and company social activities as needed.
• Develop and execute the company's long‑term financial strategy in partnership with ownership and executive leadership.
• Serve as a key advisor on financial performance, growth opportunities, capital allocation, and risk management.
• Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to ownership, board members, trustees, and other stakeholders.
• Engage in budgeting and financial strategic planning, cash‑flow management, establishment and maintenance of internal controls and financial policies, and ensure compliance with federal, state, tax, labor, retirement plan, and regulatory requirements.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA, CMA, MBA, or an equivalent professional designation is preferred; strong accounting knowledge is essential.
• Competent in MS Office applications.
• Proficiency in Epicor Prophet 21 is highly preferred; working knowledge of financial software and ERP systems is required.
• Comfortable operating in a hands‑on environment where senior leaders actively participate in day‑to‑day operations.
• Demonstrated ability to wear multiple hats and manage accounting, finance, compliance, benefits administration, and office operations.
• Strong attention to detail while maintaining a strategic business perspective.
• Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and lead a small team effectively.

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. The benefit package includes medical, dental, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, and discretionary bonuses.
