RN Surgery Staff (FT) - Days w/ Rotating Call

Provides direct care to surgical patients with primary emphasis on the intra-operative period and responsibility for pre-operative assessment and post-operative evaluation while applying age-specific needs in the assessment, treatment, and/or care of patients. Possesses substantial knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon the principles of the biological, psychological, behavioral, and social sciences. Must take call on a rotating basis.

Job Specific:

• Participates in the safety management and infection control programs.
• Performs, supervises, and/or directs the nursing care of the patient by performing the duties of the circulating nurse based upon hospital policies / procedures and the AORN Standards.
• Directs and/or assists, as necessary, with the cleaning, sterilization, and storage of instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Administers medications, starts intravenous infusions, and assists anesthesia personnel as needed.
• Assists with the orientation of new personnel.
• Takes call as assigned.

Hospital:

• Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
• Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
• Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
• Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: At least six (6) months of previous operating room experience

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required: Currently registered with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners Basic Life Support Certification - BLS
