Position Summary The Surgical Technologist in the ASC provides technical hands‑on support to the surgeon and operating room team by handling instruments, supplies and equipment before, during and after surgery. Location: Proliance Center for Outpatient Spine and Joint Surgery (Mountlake Terrace) Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4x10s, 0530‑1700 No nights, no weekend, no call; closed major holidays Key Duties and Responsibilities Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience. Maintain a friendly, positive, and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff. Properly handle the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon based on requests and patterns. Continuously monitor for maintenance of the sterile field. Assist in ensuring that the proper supplies, instruments, and equipment are available for the procedure. Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly. Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used. Engage in continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes. Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center. Take an active role on committees within the department. Identify actual and potential risks to patients and others and take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety. Education / Experience Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program Certified Surgical Technologist preferred Current State licensure and CPR Two years of direct experience is desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Skill in using a computer Knowledge of applicable specialties Ability to remove oneself personally from given situations, remaining objective Cooperation, flexibility, and ability to provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physicians and staff Multitasking ability Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete Understanding of consistent respect for confidentiality/HIPAA Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staff Clear communication skills Consistency and timeliness in attendance Work Environment / Physical Demands The work environment/physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
