Your impact

• Prevent problems before they happen through disciplined preventive maintenance on production and facility assets.
• Triage downtime quickly—read prints and schematics, diagnose faults, and return equipment to service.
• Operate processing machinery when doing so accelerates throughput and reduces delays.
• Keep the plant ready: ensure equipment is functional and supplies are staged; own spare parts ordering and inventory control.
• Verify ice quality visually (clarity, cube size, hole spacing) and resolve issues at the source.
• Apply advanced root cause analysis with basic data analytics to implement lasting countermeasures.
• Handle light building and grounds upkeep (bulb changes, paint touchups, small structural fixes).
• Coach teammates on proper tool/equipment use for general maintenance tasks.
• Assist with bagging and occasionally guide production workflow based on machine output.
• Independently perform basic electrical/electronic maintenance; rigorously follow electrical and chemical safety controls.
• Complete required safety checklists; actively identify, track, and correct industrial health and safety concerns.
• Escalate improvement opportunities to the Operations Manager; perform other duties as assigned while living the Code of Business Ethics and a personal safety commitment.

Systems you’ll see often

Ice makers, compressors, heat exchangers, ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, pumps, and condensers—supported by the prints, schematics, and technical manuals you’ll use daily.

Who you’ll work with

Internal: Plant Manager, plant employees, Regional VP, VP Engineering
External: Vendors and contractors

Supervisory scope: None. You may be asked to help direct workflow at times, but you will not manage direct reports. Professionalism with vendors, suppliers, and contractors is essential, along with commitment to Reddy Ice’s values and priorities.

Required background

• 6–8 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
• One of the following certifications:
  • Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical (State Certifying Authority)
  • Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association)
  • Certified Maintenance Technician Level III (International Maintenance Institute)
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals)

Preferred background

• 8+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Any two of the following credentials:
  • Programmable Logic Controller Certification (Electronics Technicians Association International)
  • Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical (State Certifying Authority)
  • Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association)
  • Certified Maintenance Technician Level III (International Maintenance Institute)
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals)
  • High School diploma or GED

Experience and proficiency snapshot

• Ammonia refrigeration: 5 years (Required)
• HVAC/R: 5 years (Preferred)
• Mechanical knowledge: 7 years (Preferred)
• Electrical: 7 years (Preferred)
• Industrial maintenance: 7 years (Preferred)

Fluency with: PLC troubleshooting, ammonia refrigeration systems, and conveyor chain replacement.

Environment and schedule

Work ranges from office areas to all plant zones, with exposure to extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, ammonia, and heavy moving equipment. Nights and weekends are part of the role; occasional travel and overtime may be required. Expect a fast-paced, evolving setting where stress management, collaborative relationship-building, solid reasoning, attention to detail, and organization are crucial. Ability to use hand and heavy electric tools and lift at least 45 lbs is required.
