Equipment Technician
$28 per hourThe Equipment Technician (Electro-Mechanical Technician) maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production line equipment in a cleanroom semiconductor manufacturing environment. This is a senior-level role that drives change and supports a new, growing site by ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing production downtime. The position operates on 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) with overtime and occasional Saturday work.
Responsibilities- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production line equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Work from electrical and mechanical schematics, drawings, charts, manuals, flow charts, and both verbal and written instructions to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Use hand and power tools and test equipment such as RPM meters, frequency meters, watt meters, oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, multi-meters, bridges, and other specialized testers to identify problems and determine necessary repairs.
- Install new, replaced, repaired, or modified equipment at appropriate stations on production lines under supervisory direction or in collaboration with departmental personnel.
- Perform test runs on newly installed or repaired equipment to verify proper operation and compliance with production requirements.
- Review work orders for malfunctioning equipment, prioritize tasks to support production schedules, and minimize equipment downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic circuitry, including issues related to motors, circuit breakers, relays, switches, registers, adders, counters, encoders, decoders, lamps, sensors, fuses, and similar components.
- Repair and replace mechanical components such as gears, pulleys, cams, chains, sprockets, belts, pneumatic and hydraulic devices, vacuum pumps, air valves and cylinders, regulators, chucks, drive motors, heaters, and other equipment parts.
- Inspect and repair air and liquid lines, including identifying and fixing leaks, and servicing hydraulic deionization and particle filters as needed.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning and waxing mold bars, lubricating chains, motors, and sprockets, changing oil, cleaning and servicing TIC baths, replacing stations and hand cappers, replacing rollers, conveyor belts, and gas bottles, and adjusting gas regulators.
- Troubleshoot both low voltage (0–24 VDC) and high voltage (120–480 VAC) systems safely and effectively.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with digital and analog inputs and outputs in control systems.
- Work with pneumatic controls, including electro-pneumatic spool valves, to maintain and improve equipment performance.
- Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), such as eMaintenance or similar platforms, to document work orders, maintenance activities, and equipment history.
- Follow highly complex directions and technical procedures accurately while maintaining detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and implement changes that enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall equipment performance and production goals.
- Strong electrical and mechanical experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Thorough understanding of electronics principles and design.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting using digital voltmeters and other electronic test equipment.
- Experience working with low voltage (0–24 VDC) and high voltage (120–480 VAC) systems.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot digital and analog inputs and outputs in control systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software for documentation and reporting.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and analytical thinking in complex technical situations.
- Ability to follow highly complex directions and technical procedures accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams.
- Capability to perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair tasks on a wide range of equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance troubleshooting across electrical, electronics, mechanical, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Comfort working around chemicals and within a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
- Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or a minimum of two years of related work experience.
- Previous manufacturing experience, ideally in electronic or semiconductor production environments.
- Above-average computer skills, including Excel and database entry for maintenance and equipment records.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), such as eMaintenance or similar platforms.
- Experience in preventive maintenance programs (PMs) and structured maintenance processes.
- Semiconductor or military background is a plus but not required.
- Experience with electro-pneumatic spool valves and pneumatic control systems is a strong plus.
- Ability to work as a senior-level technician who can drive change and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comfort working with calibration tasks and precision adjustments on production equipment.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a cleanroom semiconductor and electronic manufacturing environment that is climate controlled and designed for precision production. You will work primarily on 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime and some Saturday work as needed to support production demands. The position requires comfort working in a Class 1,000 cleanroom, where adherence to strict cleanliness and safety protocols is essential. You should be able to sit or stand for up to 12 hours at a time and be comfortable working around various chemicals used in manufacturing processes. Appropriate cleanroom attire and safety equipment are required, including a cleanroom smock, hairnet, eye protection, face mask, and nitrile or vinyl gloves. The environment is highly technical, with extensive use of electronic test equipment, production machinery, and computer-based maintenance systems, offering a modern and well-organized workspace focused on quality and operational excellence.
