The Position:
The Individual Giving Officer plays a key role in advancing Colorado UpLift’s mission by building and stewarding meaningful relationships with individual donors. This person will manage a portfolio of engaged supporters, guiding them through a thoughtful and personalized giving journey while helping grow long-term philanthropic investment in the organization.
This is a highly relational role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, communicating impact, and inviting others into meaningful partnership. The Individual Giving Officer will work closely with leadership to develop and execute donor strategies, while serving as a trusted ambassador of the organization’s work in the community.
Responsibilities:
Donor Relationship Management
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 120–150 individual donors and prospects
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships through consistent communication and in-person meetings
- Develop and execute personalized engagement strategies for each donor
Fundraising & Solicitation
- Solicit annual and major gifts from individual donors
- Identify opportunities to grow and upgrade donor giving
- Partner with leadership and board members on donor strategy and outreach
Donor Stewardship
- Ensure timely, meaningful communication that clearly demonstrates impact
- Coordinate donor recognition efforts, events, and site visits
- Cultivate long-term engagement and retention of donors
Prospect Development
- Identify and cultivate new donor prospects
- Support prospect research and donor screening efforts
Data & Strategy
- Track donor interactions and progress within the donor database
- Monitor engagement, retention, and giving trends to inform strategy
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be willing to work within a very flexible schedule in order to attend evening and weekend events as well as engaging with potential donors outside of the normal workday. - Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or five to eight years related experience and/or training;
- Individual must have built a strong networking base and be very well connected in the Metro Denver area communities and be well-respected as a strong development and fundraising professional.
- Must possess strong business knowledge and ability to think in a variety of business and non-profit environments. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of potential donors and supporters.
- Must exercise exceptional time management skills and be able to meet fundraising deadlines. Public speaking skills are required for speeches at fundraising events, presentations to donors on recent achievements, and meetings with members of the board.
- Must be able to inspire trust and camaraderie in employees and potential donors alike.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of development strategies, social media campaigning, and public relations.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills.
- Must be able to motivate a team to action and keep order amongst competing interests.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
