Position Summary The Senior Quality Engineer at Walmart plays a critical role in designing, executing, and maintaining comprehensive testing strategies to ensure product quality and compliance with business requirements. About the Team The Aspen Back‑End team develops and maintains multiple back‑end codebases supporting an internal analytics and configuration platform for Vizio’s Ad Tech Innovation group. This platform delivers configurable reports, queries, alerts, and audience segmentation while enabling various third‑party integrations. The team prioritizes scalable, reliable solutions aligned with strategic goals and roadmap milestones. They drive continuous improvement through effective project and stakeholder management and ensure high‑quality delivery and operational excellence in all initiatives. What You’ll Do Design, develop, and execute test cases for functional and nonfunctional requirements, ensuring comprehensive coverage. Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency and accuracy. Perform root‑cause analysis on defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective test objectives and plans. Monitor project progress, report on quality metrics, and ensure adherence to testing schedules and standards. Conduct integration, regression, and performance testing to validate system functionality and reliability. Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and implementing quality enhancements. What You’ll Bring Proven expertise in test design, automation, and execution within industry‑standard frameworks and tools. Strong skills in root‑cause analysis, defect management, and troubleshooting. Experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks aligned with best practices. Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate them into comprehensive test objectives and plans. Knowledge of integration, system performance, security, and regression testing methodologies. Familiarity with program monitoring, continuous integration, and deployment processes. Effective communication and collaboration skills to support cross‑functional teams and stakeholders. Java or PHP experience would be helpful but isn’t a high priority. Experience with Postman or similar tools, automation test writing, test planning, and manual testing for back‑end projects. Mastery of REST APIs and best practices. Strong SQL experience, familiarity with relational and non‑relational databases, and best practices. Strong experience with system integrations and related testing. Familiarity with Docker and CI tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.). Kubernetes and ephemerally‑based environments experience is nice to have. Experience with at least one cloud computing platform (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.). Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and, in some cases, stock options. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related field and at least 3 years of experience in software quality assurance, manual/automated testing, or related area. Or 5 years of experience in software engineering quality assurance, manual/automated testing, or related area. Preferred Qualifications Industry experience (e.g., retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare). Master’s degree in Software Engineering Quality Assurance, Manual/Automated Testing, or related area. Quality assurance certification such as CSTE, CSQA, or similar. Experience creating inclusive digital experiences. Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.
