Director of Accounting

Job Description We have partnered with a nonprofit organization located in Camarillo, CA. The accounting team is seeking a Director of Accounting who will be responsible for oversight of the accounting and finance functions of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position ensures compliance with all applicable tax and accounting regulations and manages more than 600 funds in compliance with laws and best practice. Director of Accounting Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight over the company’s accounting infrastructure, including accounting, financial reporting, processes, and policies to adhere to accounting standards for accurate reporting Conduct financial analysis and develop reports that provide insight into the financial health and performance of the organization Ensure that the books are properly maintained in accordance with the most current FASB and GAAP guidelines, maintaining the highest ethical standards Monitor the accuracy of financial data and ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Oversee incoming gift processing and acknowledgement process Monitor cash allocation and plan for cash needs Support the CFO in risk management and insurance renewals Complete the year-end audit and tax return processing and filing Ensure timely filing of annual 403(b) deposits and reporting, including 5500 Review and approve all reconciliations and necessary work papers Lead, manage, and mentor accounting staff of two (2) and one building staff Qualifications BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance in a supervisory capacity Advanced knowledge of GAAP and federal and state tax laws, with nonprofit knowledge strongly preferred Strong proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budget development, with a proven ability to make data-driven financial recommendations Strong technical computer skills, including all Microsoft Office components Strong organizational and time management skills Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of the organization #J-18808-Ljbffr 6AM City, LLC
