Key Responsibilities For The Assistant Controller Lead month-end and year-end close, consolidated financial reporting, forecasting, treasury, and cash management. Oversee property management accounting, including budgeting, reconciliations, financial analysis, banking activity, and client reporting. Manage development and construction accounting, including job costs, commitments, draw requests, lender packages, and budget-to-actual reporting. Maintain brokerage revenue schedules and oversee commission accounting, receivables, and closing reconciliations. Coordinate audits, tax filings, compliance requirements, and internal control enhancements. Provide senior leadership with accurate reporting and data-driven financial insights. Qualifications For The Assistant Controller Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in commercial real estate. Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices. Advanced Excel skills and subject-matter expertise in Yardi, MRI, or comparable real estate accounting software.
