Radiologic Technologist

The Acute Care Radiology Technologist provides health care services, including X-Rays, to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Responsibilities include performing X-Ray procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Employees must complete all required education as assigned per regulatory requirements and facility policy. Radiologic Technologists perform radiographic exams as requested by healthcare providers. They perform fluoroscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures alongside radiology providers. The role involves performing US guided paracentesis, thoracentesis, and arthrocentesis alongside radiology providers. Patient education regarding preparation and post-care of radiology procedures is essential. They assist with fluoroscopically guided PICC placements. Radiologic Technologists perform C-arm fluoroscopy exams in the OR as requested. Documentation required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams must be completed. They complete ancillary duties required to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures. Radiologic Technologists retrieve written orders and related health information. Participation in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of quality indicators is necessary. They educate radiography students, new hires, and radiology techs on relevant diagnostic and operative guidance exams. Demonstrated sound judgment, patience, and professional demeanor at all times is required. This role requires tact, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Essential job functions must be performed successfully in a busy and stressful environment. Learning current and new computer applications and office equipment is expected. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential. The ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines is necessary. Employees must work varied shifts as scheduled and/or needed. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, and pulling 50 pounds. Extended hours may be required, including sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily. A flexible schedule may necessitate working beyond a standard workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call availability may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs. Effective communication is essential, both in person and through various technologies. Handling challenging situations may involve dealing with upset individuals. Ability to perform repetitive tasks as required is necessary. Job tasks may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, and various chemicals. Exposure to infectious diseases may occur due to contact with patients with contagious illnesses. The role may involve emotionally challenging situations, such as dealing with distressed patients or difficult family interactions.
