Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Evening Shift

\n

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities during evening hours. The DSP assists individuals with daily living activities, promotes independence, ensures safety and well-being, and supports community participation in accordance with individual care plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

\n

• Assist individuals with personal care needs including hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation
\n
• Administer medications and document according to agency policies
\n
• Support individuals in developing independent living and social skills
\n
• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment
\n
• Provide transportation and supervision for community outings, appointments, and recreational activities
\n
• Complete daily documentation, incident reports, and communication logs accurately and timely
\n
• Monitor behaviors and respond appropriately to crisis situations using approved interventions
\n
• Encourage positive relationships, choice-making, and self-advocacy
\n
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, families, and healthcare professionals
\n
• Follow all state regulations, agency policies, and confidentiality requirements
\n

Evening Shift Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Prepare and serve dinner and snacks
\n
• Assist with evening routines and bedtime preparation
\n
• Ensure completion of household tasks and scheduled activities
\n
• Provide overnight preparation and shift transition communication to incoming staff
\n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• High school diploma or GED preferred
\n
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required
\n
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
\n
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
\n
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required
\n
• Ability to pass background checks and required training certifications
\n

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed
\n
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
\n

Schedule:

• Evening shifts typically include weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.
