About the position...

The Property Accountant will be responsible for supporting a diversified portfolio of residential and commercial properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely month-end close. This role supports the full-cycle accounting process and partners closely with Property Management, Investment Management, and leadership teams within the company.

Supports the property management operations with day-to-day accounting questions, daily processes, and related inquiries.
Prepare annual financial statements with supporting workpapers.
Assist in completing month-end close, including journal entries, and various account reconciliations.
Analyze portfolio performance and provide variance explanations for operational teams.
Review tenant ledgers, rent rolls, delinquency reports, and commercial tenant billings.
Assist with preparation and reconciling annual CAM and operating expense escalations for commercial tenants.
Collaborate with property managers to resolve tenant accounting questions and disputes.
Partner with property management to develop annual budgets and reforecasts.
Running and compiling various ad hoc reports as needed.
Supports other property management accountants and assists with assigned projects as needed.
Communicate financial information clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.

Requirements

What we are looking for from you...

Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (but not required)
2+ years of accounting experience is highly preferred
Experience in the property management industry (residential and/or commercial) is highly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
Experience with property management/accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, AppFolio) is a plus
Excellent communication skills and professional presence
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
