Accounting Specialist

About Freedom Industries Position Summary The Accounting Specialist is an integral member of the Corporate Admin Department, responsible for setting up, billing, collecting, and providing financial support to project managers on customer contracts and purchase orders. The position also supports account reconciliations and general accounting functions, helping ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and reliable, and plays a key role in improving accounting processes through AI-enabled automation and workflow improvements. Skills and Abilities Set up customer contracts, jobs, and purchase orders accurately in the accounting system. Prepare and process customer invoices, billings, and change orders accurately and timely. Monitor AR aging, follow up on and resolve past-due balances, and apply customer payments. Review and reconcile customer accounts and perform monthly account reconciliations, identifying and quickly resolving discrepancies. Work closely with project managers and operations team members to ensure accurate project financials, monitor budgets, and resolve billing and coding questions. Assist with job profitability analysis and reporting. Review transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies. Provide backup support for accounts payable and other Corporate Admin Department functions as needed. Respond professionally to customers, vendors, and internal inquiries. Maintain organized electronic filing and document retention for accounting records. Support implementation of AI tools and identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency, internal controls, and reporting. Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information. Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO/Controller. Lead by example in championing Freedom Industries’ Mission Statement and Core Values. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits, and reconciliations. Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate well with team members. Comfort learning and utilizing AI and automation tools. High level of integrity and confidentiality. Experience/Education/Other High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred. 2+ years of accounting experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word. Experience with ERP/accounting software (Viewpoint Spectrum preferred). Construction industry experience is a plus.
