Party and Event Host

Store - DOVER, DE Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events—including kids birthday parties and craft classes—within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop, locating products, and ensuring a fast checkout experience. Complete operational tasks such as truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed. Event Coordination Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes. Engage clients of all ages (4 to 94+) by creating an environment of fun and creativity. Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities. Facilitate and implement party add‑ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards. Communicate events with clients and store team members. Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork. Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs. Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed. Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events. Uphold cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event. Customer Experience Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions. Provide fast and friendly checkout experience. Engage customers on Rewards program benefits and Private Label Credit Card enrollment. Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey. Assist with omni‑channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes. Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance. Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned. Support shrink and safety programs. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; promote commitment to company vision and values. Cross‑trained in Custom Framing selling and production. Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining restroom cleanliness. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Energetic and enthusiastic personality. Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and co‑workers. Excellent people skills and strong communication skills (written, verbal, nonverbal). Experience working with children and children’s events. Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem‑solving skills. Retail and/or customer service experience required. Physical Requirements Ability to remain standing for long periods of time. Ability to move throughout the store. Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching. Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment. Accommodation available for individuals needing assistance; contact supervisor for interactive process.
