Job Title: Welder Job Description

This role focuses on the fabrication and welding of a wide range of components, ensuring all work meets strict design criteria and quality standards. You will work with various setups and parts, perform precise welding and fitting, and inspect materials and processes to maintain high levels of safety and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate components across multiple setups, including A setup, B setup, LA brackets, small components, cubicles, conservators, and turrets.

• Perform fabrication of the take cover and core clamps according to specifications and drawings.

• Weld components using appropriate welding techniques to meet design and quality requirements.

• Repair defective welds and components to ensure structural integrity and conformance to standards.

• Read and interpret blueprints to guide fabrication, fitting, and welding work.

• Inspect welding processes, materials, and finished work for conformance to design criteria, applicable specifications, and inspection procedures.

• Use overhead or jib cranes safely to move and position materials and components as needed.

• Collaborate with team members to maintain production schedules and meet project deadlines.

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of blueprint reading and welding experience, ideally working with 1/2" or thicker material.

• Proficiency in MIG welding.

• Experience with stick welding.

• Experience with flux core welding.

• Strong fitting skills for fabrication work.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.

• 1+ year of experience operating overhead or jib cranes.

• Basic proficiency with plasma cutting equipment.

• Attention to detail in inspecting welds and fabricated components for quality and accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with a variety of fabricated components such as brackets, cubicles, conservators, and turrets.

• Comfort working with thicker materials (1/2" or greater).

• Ability to learn and adapt to different setups and fabrication processes.

• Strong commitment to safety practices in a production environment.

• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.

• Willingness to work second shift and occasional overtime, including Saturdays.

Work Environment

This position is primarily on second shift, running from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Overtime is typically available every other Saturday, with the option to sign up for additional hours depending on personal preference. New hires receive training on first shift for at least 2–3 weeks, with the possibility of a quicker transition to second shift based on progression and circumstances. The facility is clean and well-organized, supports union work practices, and uses equipment such as overhead and jib cranes, welding machines, and plasma cutting tools in a structured production setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Waukesha, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $71947.20 - $71947.20/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
