Machine Operator

Operates extruder to form thermoplastic Polypropylene, PVC & Polyethylene sheets by performing the following duties:

• Apply knowledge of different materials and products to run product properly.
• Read and understand orders. Set up and run orders.
• Apply general mechanical knowledge of extruder and downstream equipment.
• Change gauges, speeds and coordinate changeovers in a fast paced environment.
• Use micrometers, calipers and other quality tools to adjust dies and process accordingly.
• Take machine apart as instructed for cleaning, replacing parts and changeovers without causing damage.
• Keep accurate records of production performance and quality documentation.
• Package all finished products securely for shipping.
• Trimming to clean all finished sheets.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers and departments.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: With minimal supervision, demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems, interpreting, resolving problems and issues using a variety of instructions or guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be able to become certified and maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift, HAZWOP, RCRA, Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous certification, and Crane operation certification.
