Direct Support Professional / Caregiver - Float Staff

Overview Direct Support Professional / Caregiver - Float Staff is a full-time, permanent role. Schedule for shifts is subject to change based on program needs, but schedules are given two weeks in advance. The DSP/Caregiver Float provides direct care for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) within residential group homes in the Portland Metro Area. This is a full-time position. Candidates should be dependable, flexible in their schedule, able to work independently, and possess exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will work at multiple homes. Responsibilities Enrich and support the lives of residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care Assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating Prepare meals and snacks; may include grocery shopping Perform housekeeping and laundry duties Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is required Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients Must be able to work a flexible schedule Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral Have a passion to help others through person-centered care Works well independently Dependable, adaptable, and flexible Good communication is key in this role.
