Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves working on a neuro med-surg acute unit with a focus on neuro, stroke, spine surgery, and neuroscience patients. The RN will provide specialized patient care in a fast-paced, acute setting, adhering to unit protocols and safety standards.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS (AHA), NIHSS certifications, a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience, experience working on a dedicated neuro unit, and trauma level 1 experience.
• Common patient diagnoses: Stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience cases, medical overflow.
• Experience or 'Must have' skills: Prior travel experience (no first-time travelers), Heparin titrated drip experience based on PTT, proficiency in troubleshooting high flow oxygen equipment (e.g., Ventilators, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow devices), and ability to read telemetry monitors utilizing Phillips systems.
• Responsibilities include: Managing patient care on neuro med-surg unit, titrating drips, troubleshooting equipment, and reading telemetry strips as required.
• Additional unit notes: Orientation includes 2 days of specific training and patient care practice with a preceptor.
• Shift and staffing details: Charge nurse coverage 24/7, nurse to patient ratios 1:5-6 for nights, nurse aides/patient care techs available with specific ratios, and float rotation with competent skills.
• Other requirements: No scrub color restrictions; tattoos covered; no piercings except earrings. No call or standby duties; every other weekend and holiday work required.
