Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical Orthopedic care is needed for an acute care facility in Peoria, Illinois. The position involves working on a 43-bed unit with private rooms, providing postoperative orthopedic, trauma, and general medical surgical care. The role includes day-to-day patient care responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, with scheduling for 12-hour night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Illinois registered nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS (American Heart Association); 2 years of clinical experience in medical surgical orthopedic settings; active Illinois license or pending license; last four digits of clinician's SSN; middle initial; requested time off; recent background check; understanding that OSF is a drug-free campus with negative drug screen requirement
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with postoperative orthopedic cases, trauma with fractures, and general medical surgical skills
• Department: Orthopedic
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 on 12-hour days, 1:5-6 on 12-hour nights; PCT ratio 1:7-8
• Certifications: BLS (AHA)
• Float: Travel RNs may float to other medical surgical floors as needed
• Equipment: Troubleshooting with CPAP, heated high flow, and telemetry monitors (Phillips) is required; reading own strips is not mandatory
• Shifts & Scheduling: 12-hour shifts; every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday for days, Friday/Saturday for nights); no call or standby requirements
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs with professional appearance; tattoos and piercings must be covered
• Orientation: 2 days of unit/department-specific orientation
• Additional Information: Unit handles a wide variety of medical surgical and postoperative orthopedic cases, including trauma with fractures. The telemonitoring system is a house-wide telemetry pack by Phillips.
• Licenses & Certifications: Valid Illinois RN license required; minimum of 2 years of experience specified
