Cost Accounting/Manufacturing Analyst

A growing Northern New Jersey manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Cost Accountant/Manufacturing Analyst to help strengthen and scale the company’s financial operations within a dynamic production environment. This role if candidate is succesful will grow into a Controller position.

This is a highly visible role offering direct interaction with ownership and operations leadership. The ideal candidate is an accounting professional with strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience who enjoys partnering closely with production, inventory, and operational teams to improve reporting, processes, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, inventory accounting, and fixed assets
• Own and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and operational reporting
• Support manufacturing cost accounting activities including standard costing, inventory valuation, BOM accuracy, labor tracking, and variance analysis
• Partner with operations leadership to improve costing visibility, production reporting, inventory controls, and operational efficiency
• Monitor KPIs including gross margins, labor utilization, inventory performance, and production variances
• Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and WIP/inventory reconciliation processes
• Develop and maintain financial models, management reports, dashboards, and Excel-based analytical tools
• Help improve ERP, purchasing, inventory management, and accounting workflows
• Maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready financial documentation
• Coordinate year-end review, tax, and compliance processes
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and help build scalable financial infrastructure as the company grows

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Expertise in U.S. GAAP
• CPA or CPA-track candidate strongly preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
• Proven experience working with over $25M in annual revenue strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis
• Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting (Epicor or similar platforms preferred)
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations and production teams
