Vice President of Business Development

About the Role

Blue Gems ABA is seeking an experienced Vice President of Business Development to build and lead a scalable growth function across our expanding multistate organization.

This executive will develop high-level relationships with hospital systems, healthcare networks, physician groups, and other referral partners while leading a geographically distributed team of physician liaisons and business development professionals.

We are looking for someone who has helped scale a healthcare services organization and understands how to turn local relationship-building into a structured, measurable growth engine. Experience supporting an organization’s growth toward $100 million or more in annual revenue is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Build strategic healthcare partnerships

• Establish and grow relationships with hospital systems, pediatric networks, developmental specialists, diagnostic centers, and other key referral sources.
• Engage senior healthcare leaders and decision-makers to develop partnerships that expand access to ABA services.
• Build a pipeline of regional and enterprise-level opportunities that supports growth across multiple markets.

Lead and scale a multistate team

• Recruit, manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team of physician liaisons and business development professionals.
• Establish clear territories, goals, accountability, and consistent expectations across states.
• Create repeatable outreach strategies, training, and relationship-management processes while allowing teams to respond to local market needs.
• Work directly alongside team members in the field to strengthen relationships and improve performance.

Own business development strategy and performance

• Develop and execute a business development plan aligned with organizational growth goals, clinic expansion, and service capacity.
• Set targets and track performance across referral activity, active referral sources, qualified referrals, and client starts.
• Implement consistent CRM practices, pipeline reporting, forecasting, and executive-level performance reviews.
• Evaluate market opportunities and recommend where to invest people and resources.

Connect growth with operational execution

• Partner closely with marketing, intake, clinical, and operations leadership to convert referral relationships into successful access to care.
• Align outreach with staffing, payer participation, and service availability in each market.
• Identify and resolve barriers that prevent referred families from starting services.
• Represent Blue Gems ABA at healthcare conferences, industry events, and strategic partnership meetings.

Qualifications

• Significant progressive experience in healthcare business development, sales leadership, or strategic partnerships, including senior leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated success building and managing a geographically distributed team across multiple states.
• A track record of developing relationships with hospital systems, healthcare networks, physician groups, and senior healthcare decision-makers.
• Experience creating the systems, processes, and team structure needed to scale a healthcare services organization.
• Strong understanding of referral-driven healthcare growth and the connection between business development, intake, and operations.
• Ability to translate strategy into field execution, measurable goals, and clear accountability.
• Strong executive presence, relationship-building skills, and negotiation ability.
• Willingness to travel regularly across markets.

Preferred: Experience in ABA, autism services, behavioral health, pediatric healthcare, or a closely related sector.
