Cardiac Cath LAB Technician

Radiology - Cath Lab Tech Profession: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 6:30 AM - 5 PM, four days during the week Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 1-2 years in a cath lab License: RCIS or RCES preferred; ARRT acceptable with scrub experience Certifications: ACLS and BLS required Must-Have: Strong scrub tech experience across all cath/EP procedures. Description:Demonstrates understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology.Assists with orientation and training of cath lab staff.Responsible for special projects and may include participation in relevant committees.Adheres to the principles of medical ethics as applied to the role of Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II.Demonstrates thorough understanding of ECG and related medical terminology.Recognizes ECG waveform morphology, wave patterns, and their significance, including lethal arrhythmias.Identifies and interprets ECG changes associated with heart chamber enlargement and myocardial infarctions.Responds appropriately to identified changes.Lists and describes the most common cardiac pathologies, including symptoms and treatments.Demonstrates understanding of cardiac medications, including generic and trade names.Documents medications appropriately, including indications for administration and dosages.Recognizes and alerts physicians to abnormalities in clinical laboratory values for arterial blood gases, electrolytes, hemoglobin, BUN, and creatinine.Demonstrates knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.Performs all components as a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II for a patient undergoing full cardiac arrest.Monitors diagnostic cardiac catheter procedures.Intervenes appropriately during and after a lethal arrhythmia using ACLS standards.Identifies coronary anatomy in cine angiographic projections.Identifies cardiac pressure waveforms and informs the interventional cardiologist when applicable.Calculates basic hemodynamic parameters using the recording computer.Records catheterization events in the database computer.Understands necessary supplies required and is able to set up a table for a diagnostic cardiac catheterization.Describes fundamental steps in a diagnostic heart catheterization.Monitors a patient safely during the procedure.Performs cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, and ACT measurements.Monitors percutaneous interventions and differentiates between PTCA, directional atherectomy, and mechanical rotation atherectomy.Shows full understanding of extraction devices such as angiojet, rotoblator, and laser revascularization devices.Explains the indications and potential complications of thrombolytic therapy for acute myocardial infarction.Identifies the benefits of supplementing angiographic imaging with intravascular ultrasound and Doppler velocimetry technologies.Describes indications for electrophysiologic testing, permanent pacemaker implantation, and therapeutic ablation of dysrhythmias.Identifies main components of the fluoroscopy system in the cath lab.Utilizes all necessary components to ensure the physician has appropriate visibility during procedures.Demonstrates core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors.Must practice customer service skills provided through ongoing training and in-services.Possesses personal qualities such as being self-directed, flexible, and committed to team concepts.Demonstrates teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, and respect for diversity.Physical demands include the ability to scrub in a sterile environment for an undetermined amount of time.Must be able to wear lead aprons weighing up to 5 lbs. for an undetermined amount of time.With team assistance, must be able to lift patients to and from a stretcher or bed to a procedure table.Must have the ability to push a bed or stretcher with an immobilized patient on it with team assistance. #J-18808-Ljbffr
