Ironworker Foreman

Position Summary The Ironworker Foreman will direct and supervise a crew in planning, lay‑out, installation and alignment all in accordance with plans, specifications, tolerances, industry standards and codes. He/she will plan and coordinate the efforts of journeyman and craftsmen, motivate the crew to accomplish work safely, productively, correctly, and efficiently. He/she will work with or supervise other crafts as requested by project supervision. Responsibilities Identify safety hazards employees may be subject to and take necessary corrective action. Understand and respond to all safety hazards and warning devices. Understand and implement lockout/tag out procedures. Understand, train, and implement 100% tie off/fall protection. Basic understanding of MaTec Safety Manual and policies (Fall protection, confined space, LOTO, trenching). Ensure daily equipment inspections by crew. Follow the MaTec planning/JSA process; review and train crew. Support/perform additional safety practices: supervisor audits, craft observations, SLT meetings if requested. Report all safety events and near misses. Conduct effective gang box meetings; assign/align performance goals; ensure tools on and within 20‑25 minutes of start time. Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, cost‑saving measures; take corrective actions. Follow MaTec planning process: 1‑week look ahead, daily goal cards, JSAs, task planning. Qualifications 4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. NCCER Certification/License (preferred). Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience. Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project‑specific regulations. Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors. Set a personal example of safe behaviour. Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Common sense to execute instructions given verbally or written. Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow procedures. Maintain strong relationships with team members and supervisor. Physical Demands Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions. May need to maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully; push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, climb. Stamina for repetitive tasks for several hours. Work in uncontrolled environmental conditions: constant weather changes, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, loud noises. Wear personal protective equipment including safety‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc. Move in and around confined, cluttered, uneven areas. May work at heights; must comply with safety and fall protection requirements. Ability to see details in drawings, visualise objects in 3‑D. Good balance and vision/hearing, with correction if needed. Hours Full‑time; typically 50 hours per week. Schedule subject to project requirements. Travel Travel required up to 90%.
