Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Ambulatory Care Nurse (FGP) - Manhattan, Medicine-Cardio. The nurse will support the coordination, integration, communication, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies, participate in quality improvement activities, collect patient data, collaborate with providers, and develop patient-centered care plans. The nurse provides comprehensive care including treatments, medication administration, wound care, preventive guidance, and symptom relief. Job Responsibilities Performs physical examinations and diagnostic tests Collects patient health history Records information in electronic health record Provides information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans Administers medications, vaccination, IV therapy, oxygen, wound care, and triage Assesses and monitors patient responses to treatments, procedures, anesthesia Interprets patient information and makes treatment decisions Consults with supervisors and providers to determine best treatment plans Directs, supervises, and delegates to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, technicians as needed Performs other duties as needed Supports coordination, integration, communication, implementation and performance evaluation of nursing practice and policies Ensures clinical compliance with patient safety initiatives and reporting Supports key quality initiatives such as MIPS, Care gap management Demonstrates knowledge of NYULH Service Standards Participates in activities related to NYULH clinical standards and regulations Supports the missions, philosophy, goals of NYULH, Departments of Nursing, and FGP Participates in coordination of on-site activities to provide patient care in a healing environment Collaborates with interdisciplinary team, promotes collegial relationships Provides support and resources for nursing and other clinical staff and providers Participates in clinical inquiry and evidence-based practice activities Embraces ethical obligations and patient confidentiality Provides emergency care as per policy Functions as a respectful member of the health care team Delegates and oversees nursing interventions to team members Professional Development Engages in self-assessment and professional growth activities Acquires and maintains current nursing knowledge and competence Applies new knowledge related to medical treatment and technology Utilizes resources to promote professional development Maintains awareness of evidence-based practice and research data Acts as a mentor to peers Reports professional misconduct appropriately Executes medical regimens as prescribed by providers Assesses patients and plans comprehensive care based on illness, condition, disability Identifies co-morbidities or complications, reports to provider Integrates care with other health care providers Provides direct care services, including all listed tasks Task / Procedure Collects and documents patient clinical history and assessment data Performs onsite testing: POC lab, EKG, specimen collection, risk screening, fetal monitoring, spirometry, allergy testing, TB skin testing Performs medical and nursing treatments per plan of care and provider orders Performs procedures: hot/cold applications, appliance placement/removal, cast management, suture removal, urinary cath care, ear irrigation Applies and removes dressings, performs wound care, assists with minor and major procedures Monitors patients pre, intra, post procedure, medication administration, sedation Administers medication per provider orders, including various routes; includes oxygen therapy Facilitates medication refills and prepares orders Administers IV therapy: blood products, IV fluids, chemotherapy (certified), peripheral or central devices Starts and discontinues peripheral IV lines Maintains IV lines and manages complications Communication and Message Management Manages clinical inboxes and closes encounters timely Documents and reports critical lab values Relays test results, follows up, explains to patients Prioritizes urgent findings, notifies provider Performs triage and escalates appropriately; provides RN-level advice Manages care/case for a defined population through multidisciplinary plan Health Promotion & Education Identifies deviations from health and wellbeing, advocates for appropriate actions Collects and analyzes patient health data systematically Determines nursing diagnoses from assessment data Reports needs requiring diagnosis/treatment Escalates urgent/emergent deviations Sets expected outcomes and anticipated adverse outcomes Considers needs of specific age and cultural groups Assesses patient adaptation to changes Identifies barriers to optimal care Assesses learning needs and documents updates Develops patient-centered plans of care with individualized goals Educates patients and families to promote healthy adjustment Implements interventions from plan of care Evaluates patient progress toward outcomes Patient Experience Acts as NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador Upholds FGP Service Strategy CARES principles Greets patients warmly, states name and role, communicates care steps Collaborates with colleagues and site management to ensure positive experience and timely resolution Anticipates patient needs; applies LEARN model for service recovery, escalates to leadership Shares ideas to improve patient experience and access Partners with Patient Access and Billing teams to support collaboration Ensures staff are versed in Access Agreement standards Minimum Qualifications Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York. If hired after 9/1/25: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Associate Degree may be approved with minimum two years of nursing experience in applicable area and enrollment in a baccalaureate program to be completed within two years of hire. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association required. Required Licenses Registered Nurse License - NYS, Basic Life Support Certification Preferred Qualifications ACLS certification Membership in pertinent professional organizations Additional Requirements Qualified candidates must effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Benefits & Compensation Salary range: $117,977.99 - $121,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. Salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
