Required Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of commercial painting estimating experience (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of commercial painting systems, including:
• • Interior and exterior coatings
  • High-performance and industrial coatings
  • Drywall finishing and textures
  • Wallcoverings
  • Hollow metal doors and frames
  • Caulking and sealants
• Ability to read and interpret:
• • Architectural drawings
  • Specifications
  • Finish schedules
  • Addenda and bid documents
• Experience performing accurate quantity takeoffs for:
• • Walls
  • Ceilings
  • Structural steel
  • Hollow metal
  • Exposed deck
  • Miscellaneous metals
• Proficiency with estimating software such as:
• • Bluebeam Revu
  • On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
  • PlanSwift
  • Excel
  • Procore or BuildingConnected (preferred)
• Ability to prepare complete proposals, scope letters, exclusions, and qualifications.
• Strong math and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids while meeting strict deadlines. These are among the most commonly requested skills by commercial painting employers.  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience estimating projects from $50,000 to $10+ million
• Knowledge of commercial construction schedules and sequencing
• Understanding of labor production rates
• Experience pricing:
• • Lift equipment
  • Scaffolding
  • Materials
  • Subcontractors
  • General conditions
• Ability to attend pre-bid meetings and job walks
• Existing relationships with general contractors and suppliers
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation

Primary Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
• Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Build accurate labor and material estimates.
• Prepare competitive bid proposals.
• Submit bids before deadlines.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits.
• Negotiate and clarify project scope with general contractors.
• Turn awarded projects over to operations with complete estimating documentation.
• Maintain historical cost data and production rates.
