Freight Shipping Clerk

This role is responsible for coordinating and processing all outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate freight information in both FedEx Freight Manager and the internal warehouse management system. The Freight Shipping Clerk prepares, packages, and labels products for shipment, assists with order picking and receiving, and supports general warehouse operations in a clean, organized, and temperature-controlled environment.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate all outgoing shipments and ensure shipment details are accurate in FedEx Freight Manager and the internal system.
• Enter and verify delivery addresses, pallet dimensions, and pallet weights to calculate and coordinate shipping costs accurately.
• Create shipping and freight labels for FedEx and other carriers as required.
• Package products securely, including shrink wrapping and banding pallets to prepare them for shipment.
• Lift and move products and pallets weighing up to 40 lbs as part of daily shipping and warehouse activities.
• Assist with order picking duties as needed, using a push cart to pick products throughout the warehouse.
• Work with the warehouse management system to perform bin transfers, including placing small parts into bins, scanning them into the system, and transferring them into the new warehouse management system.
• Use an RF scanner to scan products into a laptop, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation of picked items.
• Pack and label products accurately for shipment after picking and scanning are complete.
• Assist with receiving products once trained, including unloading, verifying, and processing inbound shipments.
• Support freight management activities for outbound shipments using carriers such as FedEx, FedEx Freight, UPS, and others.
• Perform inventory-related tasks such as inventory control and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock records.
• Operate basic warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks and push carts, to move products safely and efficiently.
• Contribute to inbound and outbound logistics activities, including unloading containers and preparing orders for dispatch.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area while following warehouse procedures and guidelines.

Essential Skills:

• At least 2 years of freight shipping experience.
• Proficiency using FedEx Freight Manager, including entering shipment details and generating labels.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly as part of shipping and warehouse duties.
• Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse environment.
• Hands-on experience with freight management and coordination of outbound shipments.
• Basic computer skills, including working with shipping systems and warehouse management tools.
• Experience with order picking and packing in a distribution or pick-and-pack environment.
• Familiarity with using RF scanners to scan products and update inventory records.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks and handle pallets safely.
• Knowledge of inventory control practices, including cycle counts and stock accuracy.
• Experience working with inbound and outbound freight, including unloading and receiving shipments.
• Comfort working with carriers such as FedEx, FedEx Freight, and UPS.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience working in a pick-and-pack distribution environment handling small parts such as washers, frames, decals, belts, and similar components.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems, including performing bin transfers and updating inventory locations.
• Exposure to SAP or similar inventory and warehouse management software.
• Experience using push carts and other manual material handling equipment in a warehouse setting.
• Background in inventory control, including conducting cycle counts and reconciling stock discrepancies.
• Experience working with inbound logistics, including unloading containers and processing incoming products.
• Ability to adapt to different warehouse tasks such as kitting, picking, receiving, and shipping as needed.
• Strong attention to detail when verifying addresses, weights, dimensions, and labels for outgoing shipments.

Work Environment:

The position is based in a small, organized, and temperature-controlled warehouse environment. You will work a daytime schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., handling shipping, picking, packing, and receiving tasks. The facility uses a warehouse management system, RF scanners, laptops, pallet jacks, and push carts to manage inventory and move products efficiently. The environment emphasizes order, cleanliness, and safety while maintaining a relaxed, practical atmosphere suited to hands-on warehouse work.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MN.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
